BLYTHEWOOD, SC (WHS-TV) - Several members of Westwood High School's BETA Club made the short trip over to the Blythewood Recreation Center on Friday, April 4th where they hosted an Eggstravaganza for participants in the After School Program. In preparation for the event, members put together mini Easter baskets for each afterschooler and organized games that the students played to earn tickets for larger baskets that were given away at the end of the event. The staff at the Recreation Center and parents shared their appreciation for the time the members spent planning the event and facilitating the activities.
It is the hope of BETA Club Sponsor Felicia Robinson that this will become an annual project for the club and will continue to grow to include other after school programs in the Blythewood community. Treasurer Kyara Livingston believes that the event was a success and “being able to interact with the children and make them smile was amazing. All the hard work and dedication put in the event by the [club] was well worth it.” Westwood’s chapter of the National Beta club was established in the Spring of 2013, inducting 14 members; increasing membership by 221% to 45 members in the Fall of 2014. The purpose of the organization is to promote scholarship, leadership, and good citizenship at Westwood High School. Copyright 2014 WHS-TV. All rights reserved |
